CoachThem Drill of the Week: Cycling and crashing the net

This is a drill we like to call ‘Go Live!’

Drill Description

  • D1 and D2 start on their knees in the circle
  • 1st whistle: F1, F2, and F3 begin skating around the circle, cycling the puck
  • 2nd whistle: Both D1 and D2 stand up. D1 engages the forwards, while D2 goes to net
  • F1, F2 and F3 transition from cycling to making a play for scoring
  • 3rd whistle: LW, C, and RW (start at blue line) go on a rush the other way with the puck, against LD and RD (start at red line)
  • F1, F2 and F3 become back-checkers, while D1 and D2 join rush, as the play becomes 5-on-5
