Andreas Athanasiou has submitted his early bid for NHL Goal of the Year. The speedy Chicago Blackhawks’ forward capped off the month of October with a nasty backhand goal that requires a breakdown to fully appreciate. With the Blackhawks and Wild tied 2-2 during the 3rd period of a Central Division clash, Athanasiou put the team on his back to break the deadlock. Athanasiou skillfully picked up a pass in the neutral zone from Patrick Kane, before undressing Minnesota’s Matt Dumba with an outside-inside move and finishing top shelf on the backhand.
