“Blake Wheeler played in the Allstar game last night in Tampa Bay. Most guys would have taken today off, but not him. He was the first one on the ice, and he absolutely drive practice. That’s what kind of person Blake Wheeler is.”

That’s Winnipeg Jets coach Todd Woodcroft on their captain, the heart and soul of their team, and the uncontested leader of a Winnipeg Jets team that’s finally making headlines for all the right reasons.

We caught up with Todd while he was preparing to play the league’s best team, the Tampa Bay Lightning. And while Todd was respectful of their opponent, it was obvious that their belief in the dressing room and the culture they’ve established through people like Blake Wheeler makes them confident they can beat anybody.

(And they did; Winnipeg Jets 3, Tampa Bay Lightning 1)
