CoachThem Hockey Drill of the Week: 1 vs 0 stretch pass

In Coaching Hockey, Drills by CoachThemLeave a Comment

The 1 vs 0 stretch pass is a classic warm-up drill which includes participation from every position. It’s a highly effective drill to work on crisp passes, transitioning timing, and strong entries prior to the shot on goal.

Drill description

  • F1 passes puck to D, then a D to D pass back to the F1 skating across the ice
  • F1 receives pass and makes at stretch pass across to F3 (this player is used just to start the drill, then it becomes continuous) who has skated across the neutral zone and goes down for a shot on goal
  • F2 passes a puck to D (once F1 has made the pass to F3) for a D to D pass, who then makes a pass to F1 who turned back up the ice
  • F2 then starts the drill after pass
