This week on The Breakdown, Dave Starman does a deep dive into how to create scoring chances from offensive zone face-offs.
A self-proclaimed “face-off nerd,” Starman believes that it is often a neglected skill/tactic in youth hockey.
“You get a group of centermen that are coming up through 12U, 14U, 16U that can come into the dot and take a face-off, but they don’t necessarily know what to do on the dot to get better at those face-offs.”
Starman is joined by St. Cloud State’s Brett Larson and University of Vermont’s Todd Woodcroft, who share their perspective on what it takes to be successful off the draw in the offensive zone.
From the buzz words for face-off success, to a video breakdown off the tactics used by the best in the game, it’s sure to offer you a model for face-off success.
