One of the most important functions of hockey people in power is to use their voices to push the conversation forward. A painful reality of our game is that it too often it pushes its players in the other direction.
Backwards.
Blake Wesley is currently giving back tenfold to his student athletes at the Okanagan Hockey Academy, but as a National Hockey League player, for a long stretch of his career that wasn’t the case. Blake struggled with injuries and loneliness – a deadly cocktail that forced him to the edge.
And nearly over it.
Today on the podcast we’re having a candid conversation with Blake about his struggles and methods we can use to help those around us who might be suffering in silence.
We hope you get something from this episode, and if you are suffering and no one knows it, please reach out.
If you’re not comfortable with that and you just want to talk, you can email me here.
