What’s the most exciting part of hockey? Is it big hits? Well, the physical part of the game isn’t as important as it used to be. Key defensive stands on the penalty kill? That’s only exciting because of what’s happening on the other side of the puck. Offside reviews that wipe out completely untainted goals? No, definitely not.
Goals. Scoring. Offense. Creativity.
Every fan of hockey likes watching goals. Despite what the coaches on the bench might want, spectators would love a return to the 1980’s on a nightly basis.
Bliss Littler has been building his hockey team and hockey program in the United States for a few years now, and if there’s one thing he believes in, it’s that playing hockey is about scoring goals. Sure, a focus on offense runs counter to what most coaches in the game are teaching, but for Bliss, being creative and taking offensive risks is well worth the risk.
And worth the price of admission, too.
Listen to the latest episode of the Glass & Out Podcast to get some insight into how Bliss runs the Wild and why you should be working on offense from a young age.
